St Barnabas Parish Church, Mayland

 

The current church was built by the younger Mr Hardwick in 1867 near to the old church on top of the hill.

The church chest was first mentioned - 28 September 1553 in an inventory - Mayland- It'm is old coopes and a church hooche.

 

Worley's - A dictionary of the County

In 1915 George Worley wrote about the Church in his Dictionary of the County

The church was built in 1867 to replace an earlier structure.

It stands on a commanding height above the valley and the village.

The style is early English and the material Kentish ragstone.

In an open gable at the east end of the nave the old bell of 1662 (by Miles graye) is retained.

Registers start in 1748.
