Newspapers in the 1800's

Old newspapers make a great source of information for family historians.

Some National newspapers like the Times have online searchable databases.

Most local newpapers have copies of old editions in store with many old copies also available at County Records Offices.

Essex is particularly luck in having an extensive network of local newspapers available in the 1800's

Durrants Handbook for Essex in 1887 listed the local newspapers currently available
